Edward J. Efchak (Ed) has more than three decades of experience in research, marketing, and strategy development.

Prior to forming Customers by Design and partnering with Belden Interactive (formerly Belden Associates), Ed served as Vice President / Marketing and Strategic Development at North Jersey Media Group, (Hackensack, NJ USA) where he was responsible for research, marketing, public/community relations, and strategic development for the company’s two dailies, 42 weeklies, digital, broadcast, and special interest products and publications. 

 

He has served as President of the International Newsmedia Marketing Association (INMA) and also a past President of its North American Division. He is the recipient of INMA’s 2010 Silver Shovel Award for significant and ongoing contributions to the newsmedia industry.

 

He has served as a trustee for the National Council on Public Polls (NCPP), President of the Newspaper Research Council (NRC), was a Newspaper Association of America (NAA) Research Federation Board member and is the recipient of the Research Federation’s prestigious Award of Merit. He is also a member of the New Jersey Advertising Club’s Hall of Fame.

 

He is a frequent industry presenter, author, and commentator both nationally and internationally. He has also been a leading contributor to numerous industry initiatives in the United States including the Newspapers Next, New Directions for News, and We Media projects.

 

A graduate of Montclair State University and Northwestern University’s Newspaper Management Center, he also holds certificates of achievement in lean management
